FC Barcelona hotshot, Samuel Eto’o gave his thoughts on his team’s performance on Tuesday night after the Blaugrana overcame Sporting Clube 3-1 in the Champions League opener.

Eto’o was one of the three players on the scoresheet as Barcelona finally ended their four game winless streak on Tuesday night against Sporting Clube.

The victory puts the Catalan giants top of Group C and the 27 year old was happy with the team’s performance as well as his own.

“We knew that our bad luck would not continue, especially since we have been playing so well,” he started off.

“But I am only worried if we do not create goalscoring chances. As long as we have chances, we only need to sharpen our finishing and the goals will come,” Eto’o added.

In regards to his own fitness level and match sharpness, the Cameroonian striker replied: “Physicially, I feel like I’m 18 years old… like when I was playing for Mallorca.

“I enter every game without fear, with confidence and if my body says to me that I can give more, then I will give more.”

He was then asked about the penalty that he won and converted himself against Sporting Clube.

“I was calm when I took the ball and scored from the penalty because my teammates had confidence in me.

“But all of us can take penalties because we practice it at the end of every training session. It will serve us well one day when we have to go through a shoot-out,” he concluded.
